About the Teacher

My name is Mrs. Sylvain and I teach sixth grade Math and Science at the Grantham Village School.  This is my fourth year as a part of the GVS family!

I am originally from Bethlehem, NH.  I went to Wheelock College in Boston, MA for my degree in Humanities and Elementary Education.  I attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education for my Masters degree in Language and Literacy.  Previously, I have taught fourth grade, first grade, and English Language Learners from Kindergarten to fourth grade in Massachusetts.

My family is very excited to live in Eastman.  My husband is a teacher at Dartmouth College.  We have wonderful identical twin five-year old girls who are starting Kindergarten this fall.  My hobbies include playing with my children, reading, and drinking the maple syrup that my parents make.  I also have a serious weakness for ice cream, which my children seem to have inherited.

I look forward to getting to know all of my students and their families.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns and I will respond to you as promptly as possible.
You can reach me at csylvain@gvshawks.org.
