Cosentino Wendy at 5:02 of the first thing for us to do is to approve the agenda the agenda tonight is just very straightforward it's just we have public participation open up at 9 I'm looking at the calendar is our old lady so any other changes or adjustment to that case we need a motion to approve the agenda ocean from Denise in second second we have two people who are on now so if you are one of the attendees on Zoom you can raise your hand or you can take something in the chat if you prefer were you just a reminder if you are and we don't have anyone in person with us we have what we have one public but they have for less than a very furry head popping around Burger the Hawks Prairie participation and I'll leave it open for about 2 minutes now and please if folks are joining us or actually feel free to type into the chat or raise your hand and I can have you speak Michigan to pick o clock see I feel all the time while you're waiting for helicopter I don't see anything and our Adam is to talk about the calendar first I want to just say a huge thank you to the board members who could come tonight and to Sydney and Brenda and Kristen for coming tonight this was a famous last-minute schedules median last week we got some information or we got from their meetings at the Lebanon board had voted to not have school on January 2nd January 2nd was previously a school day on the calendar that they had established that we usually try to stick to pretty closely and so we got some questions about it pretty much immediately from families who were wondering if Grantham was going to have school we had a quorum of the board was able to get together thankfully thank you makes it through the sky and so it's just it's up to the board if you want to amend our calendar we are able to leave it as is just kind of the background and some consideration for this place is still leaving they're having school calendar as scheduled to having school on the 2nd 11 and so for our students that would be the middle and high school students are not having school on the 2nd we can decide for Grandpa some things to consider before it sit there is that near Plainfield is doing one thing Lebanon is doing something else we have in our family is I think it will be in two possessions of either is an extended vacation and that's great I think we will have some families who that's an additional date Vines of kind of child care child care options may be more limited because we are coming off of the holiday weekend for folks so just thinking about our calendar year we're fine right now in terms of hours but we're just at the beginning of our snow season so what does that look like for does this take a day off the calendar today how to make out the terms of snow days or other closures so just some some things to think about there anything else that you would add for considerations to me any thoughts or things that the board members have been thinking about her that were just wondering if you've been contacted by some parents do before Lebanon board meeting I had one parent reach out and question the calendar and then since Lebanon just asking what we're doing nobody giving me any idea either way what they told her at least that would that impact Studio Staten Island there's no custodial schedule around that I think it really is a matter of you know does the board want to try to align with lab or does the board want to I want the other side of Brittany set adjust the child care she that people already planned and especially the work day for a lot of families in the consideration is different in terms of you have a middle or high school or staying home versus a little and staying home with you we have two board members 1st Bank in packs like as a family of two working parents parents we're lucky enough to be salaried but not everybody is like a really big deal only two weeks from now I definitely agree to that I will say it's just not into no one has reached out to me at in terms of board the board adjusted terms of like casual conversations with friends I think there is a I think you are expecting us to follow lab so I think it'll be more surprised meeting for people if we don't so I think people who are needing to make plans have already started I don't know you personally I'm sure there will be some people that that will be a struggle by childcare for that day but I think when people heard about Labs decision they started thinking about what are we going to do that day because I think the auction that I've heard is so we're just going to be closed that day to write with the thought that for families that's a weird for the family to have kids at the middle and high school that is a weird another weird to go to school about the 8th grader gets another vacation day so we will have some families if we stay with our schedule we will have some families that have I'm always in support of the another vacation day but I feel like having this happen so fast and then people having to adjust to it like it wasn't a planned vacation thing my gut feeling is listed to leave the schedule there but as I said I also think about the child care black people I imagine 11 board went through the same process as we did when we approve the calendar for the year and actually I was quite surprised that they changed it at this late date I think we all work I think we should just we approve the calendar we should probably stick with what it is Easter the most compelling for me in terms of changing is begin about having a 9th grader who has an extra vacation day and a first grader I wonder if if some of those families would wind up keeping their GPS student home anyway the other families would choose to extend that vacation which maybe is something that you make that choice on their own if we do decide to the calendar as is I mean technically it is a Federal holiday the second song I wish I could go either way I know we have to make a decision that really wasn't very assertive I'm actually having a nice Christmas have you heard anything from the staff about this. stop his mother just wondering from what I think they were going to follow us cuz that's what we do no I know that said Bailey was saying that it will mess up and the vegetables being delivered so she may not even salad bar and she might have to do that instead but I think that's really the old man aligned with Lebanon schedule yeah because that like the weather so you know that while back but in terms of a change the calendar once the calendar has decided I changed ahead of time I haven't seen that a little bad monkey would that mean we have to put an extra day at the end of the school year and not necessarily because we always go so we always look at our hours and then we see where we are these Don would have as we get towards I don't know April whenever snowdays mistar any other boxer I'm not sure what was his change the day after it happened and just briefly spoke with her why the change I think she was surprised by the changes well in terms of just some pressure about the federal holiday she said that they did discuss that it with a Federal holiday when they made the calendar last year but that came up again and play my chat find my am I feeling about like two working parents two who aren't salary to afford parents were in that kind of a bind that sort of thing for me like I cheated disadvantage that seems like a bird and whereas family to have more flexibility in options like you said I think this advantage you have to schedule out a couple weeks or a month or a little capricious even though again so just from an administrative side I've heard two of you say people are in complete their kids home if they want to fill normally if they just choose to get their bonus and unexcused it wouldn't matter if it's a Federal holiday it's just like if we have the in attic skin my thoughts are very much loved I think about being with child care I think this is short short notice. what I'm hearing from the direction of the discussion I would ask for a motion to leave our what you want to do it so either somebody makes a motion to change the calendar or where would someone like to make a motion to change the calendar I will take no action on this item I'm going to open a public participation section per our policy about that and it would that is we don't have anyone here in person but if anyone is joining us virtually that would like to participate please feel free to type into the chat or as Cindy mentioned raise your hand and we can bring you into speed and we just ask that you give your name and address so that they can be in the record as we would do if you were here in person so the chapel open or you can raise your hand watch they'll be a big snow storm discussion and it's short notice and it's a light stop a parking lot and then for the people that even though I know even that one day stopping back and it's not even just a you are hourly hourly I also think some of my physician friends. Like 30 days in advance it's not an abundance of child care of it I don't see anything coming in so we'll go ahead and close public participation while we are here as a board and wanted to let the other board members know that mister Campo got a tractor it's not just that we got a Tracker it's when I don't think we have any need for Publix again tonight so we will our next board meeting is there is information coming out I should be in your newsletter and we'll try to get it posted some other places for anyone who is interested in volunteering for the superintendent search committee so look for just a little paragraph about what that entails and how expressed interest in that that should be coming out and we'll get it posted in various places for folks to accept that start with all of that said I need a motion to adjourn the meeting or moved a motion from Nancy in the packet from Denise all right thank you thank you thank you thank you
