Emergency Alerts from GVS:
When an alert message goes out, please listen to the message and not immediately call the school as it ties up the phone lines. In the event of a real emergency, the lines will need to stay open.
Yesterday, after sending the cold weather alert, our phones rang off the hook with people asking why we called. Please listen to your voicemail instead of calling the school.
🤣 Speaking of yesterday's message... Lesson learned! The text message was perfect, but the mechanical voice was hysterical! 🤣 It didn't quite know what to do with "brrrrr" and "child(ren)". I got a good laugh listening to it! 🤣
Note: If you receive the call vs the text, it takes a few seconds for the recording to start playing, but it will start.

Information from Mrs. Eylander, our school nurse:
I am seeing a lot of students with what is probably Norovirus which is keeping students out for several days. We have also had several students test positive for Strep throat recently.
Please remember students need to stay home for 24 hours after their last episode of vomiting or diarrhea. We still have a lot of viruses going around. When students are sick they need a negative Covid test and improving symptoms to return to school. Please remember that students need to be fever free without medication for 24 hours prior to returning to school.
If your student needs medication at school please contact Mrs. Eylander it is never okay to send unmarked medication with a student. Any student that is transporting medication needs to have prior permission from the school nurse.
Missing clothes: I am missing my pants. If your student has borrowed clothes from the nurses office please wash and return them as soon as possible. The pants all have stickers on the inside waistband to identify them.
